Dr. Bianca Jones

Texas Licensed Psychologist and Founder

Dr. Jones, founder of Sage Supportive Services, specializes in providing culturally-responsive, recovery-oriented therapeutic services. She completed her doctoral and master's degree in counseling psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to graduate school, she studied psychology at Hampton University.

Dr. Jones has been in the mental health field since 2009  and has worked in a variety of settings including psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery centers, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams, psychiatric and residential treatment centers, medical facilities, college counseling centers, and private practice. Currently, Dr. Jones is employed as a psychologist within the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center system in the Houston metro. These varied experiences contribute to Dr. Jones' flexibility, adaptability, and integrative approach to therapy - she applies techniques to meet consumers' needs, as opposed to a "one size fits all" perspective.

Dr. Jones maintains a specialty in adapting mental health treatments for culturally diverse individuals and addressing cultural issues in therapy. Dr. Jones has shared her expertise on issues related to minorities through publishing in peer-reviewed research journals, presenting at local and national conferences, and teaching university level classes.  Dr. Jones has worked alongside mental health clinic directors in two medical centers to successfully achieve accreditation from a renowned international rehabilitation accrediting agency.

Dr. Jones is active in psychological organizations, including serving as the membership chair for the American Psychological Association, Psychology of Women, Black Women Section and the secretary for the Houston Association of Black Psychologists.  Dr. Jones was the February 2019 member of the month for the Houston Association of Black Psychologists. Dr. Jones provides volunteer supportive services at the Redirect Diversion Program affiliated with the My Brother's Keeper Initiative.
